PHNOM PENH -- The number of road fatalities in Cambodia declined to 1,509 people in 2024, a drop of 5 percent from 1,590 in the year before, a spokesperson said on Thursday.
Phan Rim, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, said the road accidents injured 3,720 others last year, down 17.6 percent from 4,515 a year earlier. (Cambodia-Road Accidents)

COLOMBO -- The Hambantota International Port achieved a growth rate of 22 percent in 2024, matching its performance from the previous year, HIP Group (HIPG) said on Thursday.
To achieve higher numbers in 2025, the port is implementing upgrades to its infrastructure, including the introduction of gantry and yard cranes in the container yard, HIPG said in a press release. (Sri Lanka-Hambantota Port)

TOKYO -- Japan's top government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi on Thursday urged the U.S. military to implement preventive measures regarding further sexual assaults following a recent incident involving a U.S. Marine in Okinawa.

SEOUL -- Despite a cold wave and subzero temperatures, large-scale overnight rallies near the presidential residence of impeached South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol in Seoul have continued since late Tuesday when the Seoul Western District Court extended an arrest warrant against Yoon.
