CAIRO, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stressed his country's support for the Chadian government's efforts to preserve its stability and security, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

His remarks were made during a phone conversation with his Chadian counterpart, Abderaman Koulamallah, in which they discussed ways to promote bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, including trade, the economy, and capacity building.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's condemnation of the "terrorist attack" near the presidency in the Chadian capital.

On Wednesday, militants of the armed group Boko Haram carried out an attack near the presidency but were repelled by Chadian troops.

Koulamallah said that the security situation in the country is under control.

Talks between the two ministers also addressed some regional issues, including the conditions in Sudan and means of boosting security in the Sahel and Sahara areas, the statement added. Enditem
