SAO TOME, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Ilza Amado Vaz has been appointed as the new prime minister of Sao Tome and Principe, following a presidential decree issued on Thursday.
According to the official STP-Press news agency, Amado Vaz will become the third woman to hold this position in the nation's history. She previously served as the minister of justice.
On Monday, President Carlos Vila Nova dissolved the government of Patrice Trovoada and requested his party to propose a new candidate for the position of prime minister and head of government within 72 hours.
The ruling Independent Democratic Action Party (ADI) on Thursday proposed three new candidates for the position, following the president's rejection of the earlier nominee, Helio de Almeida. Enditem
