KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's industrial production index (IPI) increased by 3.6 percent year-on-year in November 2024, driven by sustained output growth in the manufacturing sector, official data showed Friday.
The manufacturing sector expanded by 4.6 percent, while the electricity output rose by 3.9 percent, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.
However, the mining sector production remained on a downward trend, albeit with a smaller negative growth of 0.8 percent in November 2024.
On a month-on-month basis, the IPI grew 0.5 percent from 1.7 percent in October 2024.
As for the first 11 months this year, the IPI improved to 3.7 percent, with all sectors posting increases, namely the mining index (0.7 percent), manufacturing index (4.2 percent), and electricity index (5.8 percent). Enditem
