KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- The number of unemployed in Malaysia decreased to 546,700 persons in November 2024 with the unemployment rate of 3.2 percent, official data showed Friday.
Malaysia's continued strong economic performance towards the end of 2024 has led to a more stable labor market in November 2024, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.
The number of labor force in November strengthened further with an increase of 0.1 percent to record 17.29 million persons.
The labor force participation rate remained unchanged at 70.5 percent, as in the prior month.
Meanwhile, the number of employed persons was on an upward trend, increasing by 0.2 percent to 16.75 million persons in November.
According to the DOSM, Malaysia's steady labor market situation is bolstered by encouraging recruitment activities following the ongoing expansion of business activities in tandem with healthy domestic economic growth.
"Therefore, the country's labor force performance is anticipated to remain strong in the upcoming months, as the Malaysian economy remains resilient with stable growth," it noted. Enditem
