MOSCOW, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Sales of new passenger cars in Russia grew by 48.4 percent in 2024, reaching a total of 1.571 million units, the TASS news agency reported on Friday.
According to data released by the analytical agency Avtostat, domestic automaker Lada accounted for about 28 percent of the market share, with 436,155 units sold in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 34.4 percent.
Among foreign brands, China's Haval emerged as the most popular, selling 190,600 units, up 70.6 percent year-on-year. Other Chinese brands, including Chery, Geely and Changan, also made it into the top 10, selling 157,000, 149,100 and 106,100 units, respectively.
Lada Granta retained its position as the best-selling model, with 201,500 units sold, a modest 2.8-percent increase. Lada Vesta secured second place with 123,200 units sold, tripling its 2023 sales. The Haval Jolion took third place with 83,800 units, a 50-percent increase. Enditem
