WARSAW, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Poland's midfielder Piotr Zielinski revealed that he refused "a big offer" last summer from Saudi club Al-Ahli before signing a contract with Inter Milan.

In June 2024, the Pole decided to leave Napoli after eight years. The 30-year-old joined Inter, but revealed that could have chosen a completely different path, as he was in advanced talks with Al-Ahli.

"I had an offer from Saudi Arabia for a lot of money. I was thinking about trying something different. I was offered a really huge salary, so it was normal that I analyzed the situation. At one point I even thought I would move to Saudi Arabia," Zielinski told Polish media on Friday.

The Pole explained why he instead chose Inter after leaving Napoli.

"I had doubts whether the move to Saudi Arabia would be right for my family. Now it's still too early for that step as I wanted to fight for a European trophy. Inter gave me such an opportunity. I got many offers, but the only one that mattered to me was Inter," Zielinski said.

"I think I made the right decision. I don't complain about the salary and I still play at the highest level, so I'm really happy. Maybe I'll get a second opportunity to play in Saudi Arabia in the future," he added. Enditem
