DOHA, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a phone call with U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and developments in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement from the Emiri Diwan, the administrative office of the emir.
The two leaders discussed the situation in Gaza and other Palestinian territories, focusing on joint mediation efforts to end the ongoing conflict, as well as broader regional and international developments of shared concern, read the statement.
Also on Monday, the Qatari emir met with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Biden's coordinator for Middle East and North Africa Affairs, Brett McGurk, at Lusail Palace.
