SEOUL, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The South Korean constitutional court on Tuesday said the second hearing of the trial of President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment will be held on Thursday.

The court on Tuesday held the first hearing of the case but only lasted for about four minutes due to Yoon's absence.

During Tuesday's session, the court rejected Yoon's request to avoid a newly appointed justice in the first formal hearing of Yoon's impeachment trial.

According to South Korean laws, the parties involved must appear for the hearings. If a party is absent, the court will conclude the session and schedule the next hearing date. However, if a party fails to appear for a second time, the court may proceed. Enditem
