HANOI, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- A total of 340,142 units of automobile were sold in the Vietnamese market in 2024, up 12.6 percent year on year, Vietnam News Agency cited the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers' Association said on Tuesday.
The country witnessed a surge of 39 percent in imported car sales in 2024 while sales of domestically-assembled vehicles reported a decline of 5 percent, said the association.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade forecast that in 2025, the Vietnamese automobile market could increase by about 12 percent with the sales reaching 600,000 units. However, the pressure from imported cars will weigh heavily on the domestic automobile industry.
Experts predicted that 2025 will see major changes in the Vietnamese auto industry. It is anticipated that the automotive industry would encounter challenges like intense competition from imported vehicles and a wider range of consumer demands.
These challenges should present companies with chances to innovate their products and make adaptation to meet modern consumer trends, said the experts. Enditem
