Cambodian, Iranian diplomats welcome progress on finalizing MoU on petroleum cooperation

PHNOM PENH, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian and Iranian diplomats on Tuesday welcomed the progress on finalizing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on petroleum cooperation between the two countries, said a Cambodian foreign ministry's press release.

The welcome was made between Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Ali Akbar Nazari, Iranian ambassador to Cambodia, during their meeting in Phnom Penh.

"They discussed efforts to enhance economic ties through cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, health and energy," the press release said.

They "welcomed the progress on finalizing key agreements including the Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments, the establishment of a Joint Economic Commission, and the MoU on Petroleum Cooperation", it added.

Both sides also touched on regional and international cooperation, including under the framework of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations)-Economic Cooperation Organization, it added. Enditem
