NEW DELHI, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- A bull-tamer was killed and nearly ten spectators were injured when the horned animals ran amok during the annual sporting event Jallikattu in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at the Avaniyapuram area of the state's Madurai district, when thousands of people congregated to watch the bull-tamers' bravado activities.

The popular bull-taming sport is held every year on the day of harvest festival celebrated across Tamil Nadu.

Jallikattu is a traditional bull-taming sport in which participants try to tame a bull by grabbing its hump. On several occasions, many people had been injured in the sport, watched by thousands of local people. Enditem
