SEOUL -- South Korean investigators on Wednesday entered the presidential residence in an attempt to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol, TV footage showed.
Police officers and investigators from the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) and the National Office of Investigation (NOI) broke through the second cordon of buses after getting through the first cordon using ladders. (South Korea-President Arrest)

THE HAGUE -- The Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) announced on Tuesday that its president, judge Nawaf Salam, has resigned following his appointment as Lebanon's prime minister.
Salam, who assumed the ICJ presidency in 2024, officially stepped down as a member of the court effective immediately, the ICJ stated in a press release. His term as both judge and president was originally set to conclude on Feb. 5, 2027. (Netherlands-ICJ-President)

CAIRO -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and U.S. President Joe Biden held a phone conversation on Tuesday to discuss the intensive mediation efforts undertaken by Egypt, the United States, and Qatar to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and exchange prisoners and detainees.
During the conversation, both leaders stressed the importance of the concerned parties' commitment to overcoming obstacles and showing the necessary flexibility to reach an agreement, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement. (Egypt-U.S.-Gaza Ceasefire Mediation)

ADDIS ABABA -- The African Union (AU) on Tuesday disclosed that its annual summit will be held from Feb. 12 to 16, with the election of the AU Commission (AUC) senior leadership set to be a focus of the event.
In an announcement released Tuesday, the AU said the summit, under its theme for 2025, "Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations," will be held at its headquarters in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. (AU-Summit-Election) Enditem
