ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that his country has substantially reduced the power tariff for electric vehicles (EVs) as a propitious step for boosting the emission-less and eco-friendly vehicles in the country.

"EVs are the right step to address air pollution that needs to be scaled up to contain climate change as it will help reduce air pollution, the massive import bill of fuels and preserve the pristine environment," the prime minister said while chairing a meeting on electric vehicles on Wednesday. HANOI -- Most credit institutions in Vietnam forecast their business performance in the first quarter of 2025 and the whole year of 2025 to be more positive than last year, local media cited the State Bank of Vietnam as saying on Thursday.

According to a Q1 2025 survey conducted by the central bank on business trends of all credit institutions, 74.6 percent and 84.2 percent of credit institutions predict their business situation will improve in the first quarter and the whole year of 2025, respectively. (Vietnam-Credit Institution)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's central bank will enhance its efforts to combat money laundering and counter the financing of terrorism, state media reported Wednesday, citing Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe.

Measures will be taken to ensure that tax evasion, tax-related crimes, and suspicious transactions are promptly reported to the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for immediate investigation, according to the report. (Sri Lanka-Central Bank)

JAKARTA -- Indonesia is targeting to build 66 state hospitals in some rural regions which have no type C hospitals with 32 of which to be completed by the end of 2025, said the country's Health Ministry.

In the Southeast Asian country, general hospitals are classified as Class A, B, C, or D, based on the number of inpatient beds. A type C hospital provides both basic secondary and primary care services, helping reduce the burden on larger hospitals. (Indonesia-Healthcare-Hospitals) Enditem
