VILNIUS, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Lithuanian Navy has deployed two ships to NATO's critical infrastructure protection operation in the Baltic Sea, the Lithuanian Armed Forces announced on Wednesday.

The ships, a mine countermeasures vessel and a patrol vessel, have been activated as part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) Baltic Sentry operation, according to the Baltic News Service (BNS).

During the mission, the Lithuanian ships will conduct patrol and surveillance tasks, collaborate with NATO allied forces, and employ advanced technologies to identify and address potential threats. A submersible robot on board the mine countermeasures ship will monitor the Baltic seabed.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said the mission is expected to last 90 days. Enditem
