DOHA -- Israel and Hamas have agreed to a Gaza ceasefire-for-hostages deal after intensive mediation efforts by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, the Qatari prime minister announced on Wednesday.
In a press conference, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said the two conflicting parties in Gaza have reached an agreement regarding the exchange of hostages and prisoners and return to sustainable calm that would lead to a permanent ceasefire. SOFIA -- Two people were killed and six others injured after two freight trains collided head-on at around 4 pm local time on Wednesday between Svetovrachene and Kremikovtzi stations near Sofia.
Chief Commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov, head of the Sofia Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, told reporters that preliminary information indicated eight people were on the trains. (Bulgaria-Train-Crash)

ADEN, Yemen -- The UN Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) reported on Wednesday that 41 civilians were killed and 52 others injured by mines and explosive remnants of war (ERW) in Yemen's western province of Hodeidah throughout 2024.
According to a UNMHA statement, a total of 61 incidents involving landmines and ERW were documented in the Red Sea port province last year, with women and children accounting for 40 percent of related casualties. (Yemen-Landmines-Fatalities)

RAMALLAH -- Five Palestinians were killed on Wednesday in an Israeli airstrike on the Al-Damaj neighborhood of Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The ministry reported that five bodies were transferred to Jenin Governmental Hospital following the Israeli airstrike on the camp. (West Bank-Israeli Strike) Enditem
