TUNIS, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian security forces have arrested an individual involved in drug trafficking in the eastern Sousse province, seizing 22 blocks of cannabis, according to a statement by the Tunisian National Guard on Thursday.
The security units received information indicating the suspect was trafficking drugs among the youth in the town of Msaken. Following a raid on his residence, the authorities arrested the man and seized 22 blocks of cannabis, along with an undisclosed sum of money believed to be from illegal activities.
The National Guard did not disclose the operation's timing or the suspect's nationality.
Upon reviewing the case, the public prosecution authorized his detention pending investigations.
The National Guard called on all citizens to cooperate with the security services by reporting any suspicious information or movements.
