TEHRAN, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian navy received new naval cruise missile systems and other defense and tactical equipment on Thursday, reported the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
The naval forces received the systems and gears in the southern province of Hormuzgan at a ceremony to inaugurate a new maritime zone at the strategic Jask port near the Strait of Hormuz, said the report.
Among the delivered military gear were Talaeiyeh (Golden) naval cruise missile systems, a smart unmanned underwater vehicle, a low radar cross-section air defense system, electronic and cyber warfare systems, fast attack craft, surface-to-surface cruise missiles, and Ababil-5 multipurpose strategic drones.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Baqeri said the country's navy is self-sufficient in producing a major part of its required equipment, according to the official news agency IRNA. Enditem
