GAZA -- At least eight Palestinians were killed by Israeli army attacks in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, a Palestinian official said.
In a press statement, Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defense, said that five Palestinians were killed by the Israeli attacks in Gaza city and three others were killed in north Gaza. (Gaza-Ceasefire)

WELLINGTON -- Three pilot whales died on Sunday, including one euthanized by volunteers, after a group of 30 whales of a range of ages and sizes re-stranded near the northern tip of New Zealand's South Island, the third stranding in the area in the past two months.
Volunteers from the Department of Conservation (DOC) and Project Jonah, the organization protecting and conserving whales, dolphins and seals, attempted to refloat the remaining whales after the 30 pilot whales were found coming on shore near Pakawau in the Golden Bay on Saturday. NEW DELHI -- At least three people were killed and four others went missing Sunday after a boat carrying them capsized in the eastern Indian state of Bihar, officials said.

JERUSALEM/GAZA -- Hamas began releasing three Israeli hostages to the Red Cross on Sunday, Israel's state-owned Kan TV news reported, hours after a Gaza ceasefire took effect, marking the first of dozens expected to be freed under the agreement.
