LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Sony Pictures' comedy film "One of Them Days" took the top spot at the North American box office on its opening weekend with an estimated three-day cume of 11.6 million U.S. dollars, data from measurement firm Comscore showed on Sunday.
Directed by Lawrence Lamont, the film stars Keke Palmer, SZA, Maude Apatow, and Katt Williams.
"One of Them Days," with a budget of only 14 million dollars, has received an approval rating of 97 percent based on 62 reviews to date on the review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. It also earned an "A-" on an "A+" to "F" scale from audiences polled by the market research firm CinemaScore.
In a close second, Disney's photorealistic CGI-animated film "Mufasa: The Lion King" took in 11.53 million dollars on its fifth weekend. The film has grossed 205.8 million dollars in North America for a global total to date of 588 million dollars.
Another newcomer, Universal's horror film "Wolf Man" landed in third, earning 10.55 million dollars this weekend. Enditem
