PHNOM PENH, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia recorded a 129.7 percent rise in the export of car tires in 2024, said a General Department of Customs and Excise's report on Monday.

The Southeast Asian country exported car tires worth 874.6 million U.S. dollars last year, an increase of 129.7 percent from 380.6 million dollars in the year before, the report said.

Ministry of Commerce's Secretary of State and Spokesperson Penn Sovicheat attributed this sharp growth in the exports of car tires to the kingdom's successful efforts in promoting exports.

"The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement and Cambodia's bilateral free trade agreements with China, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates have provided us greater market access for made-in-Cambodia products," he told Xinhua.

Currently, six car tire manufacturing projects have been carried out in different special economic zones in Cambodia.

Meanwhile, the report also recorded the kingdom's export of bicycles, including electric bicycles, worth 426.9 million dollars last year, a year-on-year decrease of 12.8 percent. Enditem
