MINSK, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Belarusian Central Election Commission (CEC) said Wednesday 17.67 percent of eligible voters had cast their ballots after two days of early voting in the presidential elections.
The turnout in the Brest region stood at 19.35 percent, 18.35 percent in the Vitebsk region, 17.67 percent in the Gomel region, 15.13 percent in the Grodno region, 17.72 percent in the Minsk region, 17.98 percent in the Mogilev region, and 17.20 percent in the city of Minsk, the CEC said.
The CEC registered incumbent Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich, chairman of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice Alexander Khizhnyak, individual entrepreneur Anna Kanopatskaya, and first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus Sergei Syrankov.
Early voting is held from Jan. 21 to 25, and the main voting day is Jan. 26. Enditem
