VIENTIANE, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce held a nationwide meeting to approve the draft Trade and Transport Facilitation Strategy 2025-2030, aimed at improving trade and logistics while addressing current and future business challenges.

The strategy's primary goals are to reduce permit issuance and import and export certification times, streamline goods clearance at international checkpoints, improve Laos' logistics efficiency, and eliminate unnecessary checkpoints along transport routes, according to a report from the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce on Thursday.

During the meeting, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith highlighted the crucial role of trade and logistics facilitation in socio-economic development, noting it as a key task in addressing economic and financial challenges.

He also emphasized efforts to reduce time and costs in trade and logistics, while addressing challenges faced by the business sector.

He stressed the importance of setting clear plans, budgets, and projects as a foundation for implementing measures to achieve the strategy's goals. Enditem
