Philippines' total external trade drops by 1.9 pct in December 2024

MANILA, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines' total external trade in goods fell by 1.9 percent in December 2024 to 15.45 billion U.S. dollars from 15.75 billion dollars in December 2023, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Friday.

Of the total external trade in December 2024, the agency said 63.4 percent were imported goods, while the remaining 36.6 percent were exported goods.

The PSA said the balance of trade in goods or the difference between export and import value in December 2024 amounted to -4.14 billion dollars, indicating a trade deficit with an annual decrease of 1 percent.

China was the Philippines' largest supplier of imported goods, while the United States contributed the highest export value in December, data showed. Enditem
