ISLAMABAD, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the national economy has shown strong signs of revival with improved economic indicators and various sectors registering robust growth, vowing to enhance efforts to keep the economy on the fast track.

"The government of Pakistan has been making all-out efforts to promote sustainable economic growth in the country. Pakistan has resumed the journey of development and growth," the prime minister said on Thursday.

He said the country's exports have increased and industrial and agricultural sectors are also showing positive results due to the business-friendly policies, adding that the continuous increase in remittances reflects the growing trust of overseas Pakistanis in the government policies.

Sharif said that a significant decline in inflation and interest rate was also witnessed over the past months, and the country has launched several initiatives of economic value to bring stability and prosperity.

Highlighting that a faceless assessment has also been launched to improve the customs system, Sharif said the system will help increase tax revenues, enhance transparency and stop corruption from the sector.

"After the launch of the system, the national exchequer is benefited due to the prevention of smuggling of petroleum products, sugar, fertilizers, and wheat," he said.

Commenting on the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the prime minister said the benefits of the mega project are starting to materialize.

"The development of Pakistan and the region is very close to being realized. The government is working tirelessly for the early completion of CPEC projects," he added. Enditem
