ADDIS ABABA, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) has launched an online trading system, state-run Ethiopian News Agency reported.

The online trading system aims to foster accessibility, transparency, and maintain quality of products in the process of trading, the agency quoted ECX Chief Executive Officer Wondimagegnehu Negera as saying.

The service, officially launched Thursday, will make the trading system inclusive, accessible, and competitive, Negera said.

According to the ECX, the online trading system is part of the Digital Ethiopia 2025 initiative, which aims to expand the reach of online transaction across the East African country and beyond.

Negera said the ECX is also modernizing the trading system to introduce new products.

The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration and the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute coordinated the design of the online trading system, it was noted. Enditem
