SEOUL -- A South Korean court on Friday denied the prosecution's request for the extension of the already arrested President Yoon Suk-yeol's detention, according to multiple media outlets.

The Seoul Central District Court ruled that the prosecution had no good reason to continue the investigation into Yoon's case, referred by the anti-corruption agency that had already investigated the case, as the prosecution only needs to decide whether to indict Yoon. TOKYO -- The Bank of Japan (BOJ) on Friday raised its policy interest rate to the highest level in 17 years, marking another step to unwind its long-standing ultra-loose monetary stimulus.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia is bracing for extremely cold weather in the coming days, as the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring issued a warning on Friday.
