DHAKA, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Bangladeshi government have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for developing the country's first green data center under a public-private partnership model through international competitive bidding.

Officials of both the ADB and the Bangladeshi government's relevant ministries and departments signed the MoU on Sunday, the Manila-based lender said in a statement.

The data center will adhere to international standards, ensuring maximum availability and operational scalability to meet future demands.

"This initiative marks a significant step toward achieving Bangladesh's digital vision, integrating cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices to support the country's digital transformation," said Hoe Yun Jeong, country director for the ADB's Bangladesh Resident Mission.

"The project will promote private investment in the infotech sector, opening doors for increased capital mobilization in digital technologies," the director added.

The project highlights the ADB's commitment to fostering sustainable and inclusive economic growth and supporting the expansion of cutting-edge digital infrastructure in Bangladesh. Enditem
