TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian army's ground force launched large-scale "security, offensive and mobile" drills in the western province of Kermanshah on Monday, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
The drills, involving the ground force's special force, airborne and armored brigades, aviation and drone units, and electronic warfare battalions, started in the Naft Shahr region of Qasr-e Shirin County, according to the report.
The drills aim to improve the forces' preparedness to counter any foreign threat to Iran's order and security, according to Tasnim.
Iranian Army's Ground Force Commander Kioumars Heidari and several high-ranking commanders attended the first stage of the drills which featured the overhaul of several helicopters under the force's aviation fleet and their delivery to a base in Kermanshah, according to a press release published on the army's public relations website.
