Bangladesh's navy ship to join int'l maritime exercise in Pakistan

DHAKA, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Bangladesh navy ship Samudra Joy will participate in the 9th edition of multinational "EXERCISE AMAN-25" from Feb. 7 to Feb. 11 in Pakistan's Karachi.

As the ship left a naval base in the country's southeastern Chattogram on Sunday, it was given a formal farewell in the presence of senior naval officers and families of the officers and sailors.

A total of 274 naval personnel, including 33 officers and 58 trainee officers, will participate in the international fleet review under the leadership of Md Shahriar Alam, the commanding officer of Samudra Joy.

During its journey to Pakistan, the navy ship will also undertake goodwill visits to Sri Lanka's Colombo and the Maldives' Male.

The Bangladesh Navy previously participated in EXERCISE AMAN in 2007, 2009, and 2013. Enditem
