TUNIS, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian security forces have dismantled a drug trafficking network active in Ben Arous province near the capital Tunis, arresting two individuals, the Tunisian National Guard said Monday on its Facebook page.

"The National Guard in Ben Arous successfully conducted a strategic security operation, culminating in the arrest of two drug dealers, including a high-risk individual wanted under seven search warrants for drug trafficking," it said in a statement.

Upon raiding the houses of the two suspects, security units discovered five plaques of cannabis prepared for distribution.

The public prosecution had authorized the suspects' detention pending investigation.

"This operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle organized crime and disrupt drug trafficking networks in the region," said the statement without giving further details. Enditem
