TASHKENT, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan will increase the share of green energy in its energy structure to 26 percent this year, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.

Uzbekistan has designated 2025 as the Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy, said the press service.

"Thanks to active efforts in recent years, the share of green energy in the country's total capacity structure has reached 16 percent. This year, it is planned to increase this figure to 26 percent," it said.

"This year, the goal is to maintain economic growth at no less than 6 percent and increase the gross domestic product to over 125 billion (U.S.) dollars. Rationality and efficiency are key factors in achieving this," it added.

Uzbekistan's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 6.5 percent in 2024, the press service of the Uzbek president said. Enditem
