This marked the highest export volume since at least 2013, when ISTAT adopted its current formula to calculate the key indicators.

Energy exports increased by 6.8 percent while non-durable consumer goods, mostly food and other perishables, grew by 4.0 percent. Meanwhile, durable consumer goods exports fell by 9.4 percent.

Compared to the same month in 2023, total experts were 3.9 percent higher, ISTAT said.

Italy's trade surplus with non-EU countries stood at 7.79 billion euros at the end of 2024, down from 8.10 billion euros a year ealier.

Notably, Germany's exports to Southeast Asian countries surged by 39.9 percent in December. (1 euro = 1.04 U.S. dollar) Enditem
