KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The police arrested two alleged smugglers and discovered illegal drugs and ammunition in their possession in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province on Thursday, provincial police spokesman Assadullah Jamshid said.

In the first incident, which took place in Police District 8th of Kandahar city, the capital of Kandahar province, the police discovered 1.5 kg of hashish and scores of projectiles and apprehended an individual on a charge of attempting to smuggle the contraband, the official said.

In the second incident, the police, according to the official, found a quantity of illicit drugs including hashish and toxic objects used in manufacturing illicit drugs and detained a man for investigation.

In similar operations, the security personnel discovered and destroyed a drug lab in the western Ghor province on Wednesday. Enditem
