JERUSALEM -- It is possible to strengthen security and expand peace, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday before departing for Washington, where he will negotiate the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal.

BAGHDAD -- The death toll from Friday's airstrikes on Islamic State (IS) militants in the Zarga area between the provinces of Salahudin and Kirkuk rose to seven, the Iraqi military said on Sunday.
A security force dispatched early Sunday morning to search the bombed IS hideout found the bodies of seven militants, some of them wearing explosive belts, along with various weapons, logistical supplies, and other materials, according to a statement from the Security Media Cell, a media outlet affiliated with the Iraqi Joint Operations Command. MANILA -- Philippine rescuers are searching for two male fishers who went missing after their motorboat sank in the waters off Quezon province, southeast of Manila, at dawn on Saturday, police said Sunday.
The boat, carrying six male fishers, capsized and eventually submerged after crashing into a concrete post of a bridge around 4:30 a.m. local time on Saturday in the vicinity of Tagkawayan town. (Philippines-Boat Sinking)

JUBA -- The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) on Sunday expressed concern about the escalating violence between cattle keepers and settled farming communities in Eastern Equatoria State, which has reportedly left at least 35 people dead.
