HONG KONG -- Statistics show that Hong Kong's economy is progressing steadily, said Paul Chan, financial secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, on Sunday.

Citing preliminary economic estimates for the fourth quarter and full year of 2024, which are due to be released later on Monday, Chan noted in a blog post that Hong Kong has witnessed a significant increase in visitor numbers during the fourth quarter of last year, stable personal consumption, and robust trading in the stock market since late September in 2024. MANILA -- Philippine rescuers are searching for two male fishers who went missing after their motorboat sank in the waters off Quezon province, southeast of Manila, at dawn on Saturday, police said Sunday.

The boat, carrying six male fishers, capsized and eventually submerged after crashing into a concrete post of a bridge around 4:30 a.m. local time on Saturday in the vicinity of Tagkawayan town. (Philippines-Boat Sinking)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia formed a new agency to oversee its border control on Sunday, solidifying the government's commitment to creating a smooth and efficient border control framework.

SYDNEY -- One person has died and residents of several suburbs have been told to evacuate within hours amid widespread flooding in Australia's northeast.
