RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Former Italy head coach Roberto Mancini and ex-Brazil boss Tite have emerged as candidates for Botafogo's vacant manager role, according to Brazilian media reports.

Botafogo has been searching for a new manager since Artur Jorge left by mutual consent in January to take charge of Qatar's Al-Rayyan.

The Rio de Janeiro club has made contact with Mancini's representatives though an official offer has not yet been made, news outlet O Globo reported on Sunday. Mancini has been out of work since parting ways with Saudi Arabia's national team in October.

According to the report, Botafogo has also begun talks with Tite, who was sacked as manager of Flamengo in September.

Botafogo is the reigning Brazilian and South American champion, having clinched the 2024 Brazilian Serie A and Copa Libertadores titles.

The 2025 Brazilian Serie A season begins on March 29 and the Copa Libertadores group stage is scheduled to start four days later. Enditem
