YANGON, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar experienced 1,237 natural disasters from April to December 2024, according to the Department of Disaster Management under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on Monday.
This is a decrease from the 1,670 natural disasters recorded during the same period in 2023, Daw Lay Shwe Sin Oo, a director from the department told Xinhua.
The disasters included floods, strong winds, and fires, with wind-related disasters being the most common during this period.
In response to the disasters, the department provided over 6.893 billion kyats (approximately 3.28 million U.S. dollars) in aid. Enditem
