ISTANBUL, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police detained 46 suspects on Tuesday during an operation across four provinces over their alleged ties to the Islamic State (IS), according to local media reports.
The state-run Anadolu agency stated that the operation was part of an investigation led by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, aimed at dismantling the financial network of the IS.
In the investigation, prosecutors determined that the suspects had engaged in "organizational activities" together with individuals connected to conflict zones.
Authorities have apprehended 46 suspects so far and are continuing efforts to locate one remaining individual, Anadolu reported.
Türkiye designated the IS a terrorist organization in 2013, and has been targeted by the group in several attacks. Ankara has conducted counter-terrorism operations both domestically and abroad in response. Enditem
