THE HAGUE, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United struck a loan deal for Tyrell Malacia until the end of the season, both clubs announced late on Tuesday night.

The deal, which was reached in the final hour of deadline day of the Dutch winter transfer window, included a buy option for PSV on the 25-year-old left-back. The nine-time capped Dutch international seemed on his way to Portuguese club Benfica last week, but that transfer collapsed.

After the departure of Matteo Dams and Fredrik Oppegard, Dutch league leaders PSV initially went for Anass Salah-Eddine from FC Twente as new left-back, but the former Ajax player moved to AS Roma for up to 10 million euros including bonuses.

In the summer of 2022, Malacia left Feyenoord for United for around 15 million euros. Now, after two and a half years, he returns to the Eredivisie.

At United, Malacia has often struggled with injuries. After one year and a half of rehabilitation from a knee injury, Malacia returned this season but hardly got playing time. Enditem
