KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia and Uzbekistan will move to strengthen cooperation in petrochemicals and clean green energy sectors, the leaders of both countries said on Wednesday.

Malaysia's state-owned oil and gas firm, Petronas, will be key in realizing this cooperation in terms of technical support, exchange of information and consultation, while also exploring opportunities for mutually beneficial investment projects, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in a joint statement, following the latter's official visit to Malaysia from Tuesday to Wednesday.

"The Uzbek side has expressed a keen interest in collaborating with Petronas, particularly in the areas of the petrochemicals sector and clean green energy solutions," it said.

The leaders also emphasized the importance of enhancing economic cooperation in key sectors such as renewable energy, digitalization, artificial intelligence, smart city development, and startup development, among others, to yield mutual benefits for both countries. Enditem
