KAMPALA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo told Xinhua on Wednesday that he will make his first marathon attempt in the London Marathon 2025 to be held in April.

"I am preparing well because I'm looking forward to making my first appearance in a marathon," said Kiplimo. "I am taking the schedules designed for me by the coach with full forecast. It is a tough one, but I have to complete it knowing that the marathon I am going for is not easy."

Kiplimo, who won a bronze in the 10,000m at the Tokyo Olympics, saw the London Marathon as an opportunity to compete with the best runners like Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge and Sabastian Sawe.

Kiplimo's coach Peter Chelangat made it clear that Kiplimo is doing well in training. "We are building his endurance for the 42-kilometer race through intense training and competing in various stages leading up to the event," Chelangat said.

President of the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF), Dominic Otuchet said that he is very optimistic about Kiplimo's performance, "Marathon is challenging, but with what I know with our long distance athletes, they have what it takes and all shall be well." Enditem
