HARARE, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe has recorded 44 confirmed cases of cholera since the latest outbreak started in November last year, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said Tuesday night.

According to a report released by the ministry, 10 new suspected cases were reported Tuesday and confirmed cholera deaths remained at two.

The latest outbreak occurred just three months after Zimbabwe declared the end of a previous 18-month-long outbreak, which resulted in 718 cumulative deaths, including 87 confirmed through laboratory testing, according to the World Health Organization.

Cholera is common in Zimbabwe, primarily due to poor sanitation infrastructure and residents' exposure to contaminated drinking water. Enditem
