AMMAN, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan on Wednesday stressed the need to maintain the Gaza ceasefire, warning against escalations in the West Bank.

During a meeting in Amman with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the Jordanian king said that, despite regional challenges over the past years, bilateral relations have strengthened and cooperation has enhanced, according to a statement released by the Royal Hashemite Court.

He also highlighted the opportunities for further cooperation between the two countries and how they can work together to promote peace, solidarity, and prosperity in the Middle East.

Both sides expressed their commitment to continuing joint projects in sectors like water and education.

Steinmeier highlighted the close cooperation between Jordan and Germany, noting that his country would work with Jordan to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

He also noted the successful delivery of medical supplies to Jordanian hospitals in Gaza on Tuesday.

The Jordanian king commended Germany's support for peace efforts on the basis of the two-state solution and for sending aid to Gaza. Enditem
