NEW YORK, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar softened in late trading on Wednesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.35 percent to 107.578 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.0407 U.S. dollars from 1.0381 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.2506 dollars from 1.2482 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 152.53 Japanese yen, lower than 154.30 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.9010 Swiss francs from 0.9050 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.4315 Canadian dollars from 1.4306 Canadian dollars.
