RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Santos has reached a deal with FC Cincinnati to sign midfielder Alvaro Barreal on loan for the rest of the 2025 season, the Brazilian club said on Thursday.
The agreement includes an option for Santos to secure the 24-year-old Argentine on a permanent contract when the loan expires, Santos said in a statement.
Barreal, who can play as an inside midfielder, winger and even as a left-back, is already familiar with Brazilian football, having represented Cruzeiro last year.
He is Santos' eighth signing of the new year, joining Luisao, Ze Ivaldo, Leonardo Godoy, Thaciano and forwards Tiquinho Soares, Gabriel Veron and Neymar.
Barreal has made 121 first-team appearances for Cincinnati, scoring 19 goals and providing 24 assists since joining the club from Velez Sarsfield in 2020. Enditem
