KABUL, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- More than 500 Afghan youth joined the national army of the war-ravaged country, reported the state-owned Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) on Friday.

A total of 535 individuals received four months of military training in different fields including topography and artillery. After obtaining certificates they were commissioned to the national army on Thursday, the state-owned media outlet added.

After taking over power in August 2021, the Afghan caretaker government initially planned to form an army with 150,000 people, later announced to expand it to 170,000 and gradually to 200,000 based on the situation. Enditem
