KABUL, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- A large quantity of arms and ammunition have been unearthed in Afghanistan's capital Kabul and security personnel detained one man on charge of keeping the weaponry illegally, the National Defense Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, the search operation was launched in Police District 10 of Kabul city and security personnel found six pieces of AK-47, four pistols and hundreds of projectiles from Qala-e-Fatullah neighborhood, the statement added.
The security personnel have also arrested an individual on the charge of keeping the weaponry illegally and referred him to concerned authorities for investigation, the statement further said.
Since assuming power in August 2021, the Afghan caretaker government has collected countless military equipment including battle tanks and vowed to collect arms from anyone living outside security organs. Enditem
