MOSCOW, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained four women accused of plotting terrorist attacks against senior Russian military officials and energy facilities, it said in a statement Friday.
The women were working as agents for the Ukrainian special services and were arrested in the cities of Sevastopol, Voronezh, and Rostov-on-Don, according to the FSB.
The FSB said it had thwarted the activities of the agents, who were recruited by Ukraine "to commit acts of sabotage and terrorism against senior Russian defense ministry officers and energy facilities," it added.
The four women were trained on Ukrainian territory in the use of firearms, mines, explosives and drones. The FSB has initiated criminal cases against them under terrorist-related crimes. The women have confessed and may face up to 30 years in prison. Enditem
