YANGON, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- A total of 69 suspects have been arrested in a recent crackdown on telecom fraud in eastern Myanmar's Shan state, Zaw Min Tun, a spokesperson of Myanmar's State Administration Council, said on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, security forces conducted an operation in Mongyai township on Feb. 5, and arrested 20 suspects, seizing a lot of weapons, ammunition, mobile phones, and computers used in fraudulent activities, he said.
Additionally, on Feb. 6, security forces continued their crackdown in another area of the same township, and arrested 49 more suspects allegedly involved in telecom fraud, he added.
Zaw Min Tun said that local authorities will conduct further investigations into the suspects and continue their operations in accordance with standard procedures. Enditem
